Programs need to be written to take advantage of multi-core processors. Today, most software that benefits from high processing power does this, so in general, high-power games and programs will run faster on a quad-core processor. That gives the Core i5 desktop chip a substantial advantage over its Core i3 counterpart.
Some (but not all) Core processors also feature Hyper-Threading, a proprietary Intel technology that allows more effective scheduling of CPU tasks, especially for multi-core architectures. While this technically makes the whole computer faster, it’s most visible on those high-intensity programs like media editing. Hyper-Threading has been available on some Core i5 processors as of the second generation (Core i5-2XXX CPUs and later) and on Core i3 processors as of the fourth generation (i3-4xxx and later). Not all processors in the same generation or those that follow have Hyper-Threading enabled, and system builders need to make sure that their motherboard BIOS supports Intel’s Hyper-Threading technology to see the benefit.

There was much excitement on a another new gadget, the Galaxy S4 Active, the toughest product on the range. Aimed at sports enthusiasts, travelers and adventurers, it boasts an intriguing water-resistant feature that allows the phone to remain functional even after being soaked in water.
The rugged Galaxy S4 Active claims to be fully functional underwater for a maximum of 30 minutes at a depth of one meter, and several guests were eager to test the feature for themselves with some samples in a tank full of water at the launch.
It is one of the most exciting products here at the launch. It’s dust proof and water-resistant," said Samaniego, who was among the guests to try the phone underwater.
Galaxy S4 Active also has a special touch screen functionality that allows users to use the phone even with gloves on, ideal for cold countries, winter sports, and other tricky situations that require hands to be covered.
Samsung also worked on connectivity with the launch of Galaxy NX, the first interchangeable lens camera with 3G, 4G and Wifi capabilities, backed with an Android operating system.
"It comes with 4.8 inches of screen, so it gives you a better preview and perspective. And you don’t need to transfer this to a tablet or a laptop to see if the pictures that you took are actually accurate," said Olandres, who believes the camera will be popular for users of image-based social media.
"The Android operating system allows the camera to have wireless connectivity to other devices like Samsung tablets or laptop or third-party services. You can upload your images directly to YouTube, Instagram or Twitter. And can also download apps."

jLONDON - Samsung has launched new gadgets from its rapidly growing range of smartphones and tablets at an event attended by journalists and tech enthusiasts from around the world.
The South Korean brand unveiled a wide selection of new products for its Galaxy and ATIV range at the much-anticipated Samsung Premiere 2013 at Earls Court in London
ATIV Q also has a dual operating system using Windows 8 and Android, making it easier to use mobile applications and software packages on the same device.
"This is very important for the consumers because users can now integrate their files," said Art Samaniego, Tech Editor at Manila Bulletin, who was at the event with a handful of delegates from the Philippines.
"Usually, users cannot share their files from Windows to Android, or they have difficulty in doing that, but now it’s really easy because you can just copy files from this machine."
Continuing a hybrid theme, Samsung also unveiled the Galaxy S4 Zoom. It features all the usual functionality of a high-end smartphone, but with the added bonus of a full zoom lens camera boasting 10x optical zoom with 16 megapixel, albeit relatively bulkier than other smartphones.

LG's 65-inch UF9400 is a 4K TV with quantum-dot technology, a major buzzword at CES 2015
The top-of-the-line model is the 77-inch EG9900, an UltraHD OLED TV with a flexible display that transforms from curved to flat (and vice versa) thanks to a remote-controlled motorized bezel.
At this year’s show, you’ll see all that stuff without leaving the LG booth. The company’s 2015 television lineup is a murderer’s row of eye candy. In 2015, LG will stay way ahead of the OLED curve with 11 new OLED panels in their lineup—all of them with 4K resolution. There’s also an OLED TV that transforms from curvy to flat at the touch of a button, a quantum-dot 4K set, and several TVs powered by 10-core processors. In these early days of 4K, those processing guts are key, as streaming services and built-in smart platforms are the only way to get UltraHD content onto your set.
The top-of-the-line model is the 77-inch EG9900, an UltraHD OLED TV with a flexible display that transforms from curved to flat (and vice versa) thanks to a remote-controlled motorized bezel. Along with the shape-shifting screen, the EG990 comes loaded with LG’s latest WebOS+ smart hub, a 10-core processor, Harman/Kardon-branded speakers, and an anti-reflective screen coating. It’s due out in the second half of 2015 for an unannounced price, and it will almost certainly cost as much as a car. Probably a luxury car.
At long last, there will finally be more flat OLED panels available too. Three new flat-screen 4K OLED sets will be available by the end of the year: The 65-inch EF9800 has the same specs as the flexible EG9900, but it’s a flat-screen (non-transforming) model at a smaller size. Two lower-end OLED flat screens, the 65- and 55-inch EF9500, have quad-core processors but are otherwise identical in specs. No prices or release dates for those sets, either.
Even though LG will be pushing 4K OLEDs hard in 2015, they’re also dabbling with the technology that many think will steal OLED’s thunder at this year’s show. Quantum-dot displays, which use a layer of light-tuning nanoparticles in between the LED backlight system and the color filters, are expected to help the next generation of LCD sets achieve OLED-like performance at a much cheaper price. While LG is still betting big on OLED—and to my eyes, OLED certainly still looks better—LG does have a 4K quantum-dot set in its 2015 lineup.
The lone quantum-dot panel in LG’s stable is the 65-inch UF9400 UltraHD TV, a 240Hz set with a quad-core processor and Harman/Kardon speakers. According to LG, the quantum-dot film in front of the LED backlight system translates to a “25 to 30 percent wider color gamut and 10 percent more brightness” than a traditional LCD panel. However, the company also says this first-generation quantum-dot TV may show oversaturated colors due to the nature of the technology.Read More www.technical997.blogspot.com

Nexus 7 review: the Nexus 7 was the best tablet you could buy in 2014, and if you can find it may still be the best value tablet of 2015

Google's second-generation Nexus 7 remains the best 7-inch tablet you can buy in the UK in 2014, even without a 2014 update. Read 2014 Nexus 7 review to find out why. UPDATED: 22 July 2014

tablet ups the ante on screen resolution in a big way with a 1920×1200 display, giving it 323 PPI pixel density, much greater than that of the more expensive iPad mini.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the Nexus 7’s other salient specs:
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.5GHz Processor
  • 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB or 32GB onboard storage
  • 5.0MP rear, 1.2MP front camera
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • 0.3-inches thin, 7.9″ x 4.5″
  • 16GB Wi-Fi ($229), 32GB Wi-Fi ($269), 64GB LTE ($349)
  • Wi-Fi models available in the U.S. July 30, LTE edition and global models “in the coming weeks”
It’s lighter, thinner and has a much smaller bezel than the original Nexus 7, and is designed all around for portability. The idea was to create something focused entirely on design, according to Google’s Hugo Barra. It’s the highest pixel density on a tablet display available on the market, and the color gamut offers 30 percent wider range of colors, too. Now there’s also a virtual 5.1 sound system in the device provided by Fraunhofer. Virtual surround is always more disappointing than it sounds, but better than mono audio.
The processor offers 1.8 times the processing power, and 4 times the GPU performance. There’s LTE built-in, which is an unlocked option that’s available only in the US. Batter life offers 9 hours of HD playbook and 10 hours of web browsing

Powered by an Intel Core i7-720QM (6M Cache, treat 1.60 GHz), pharm the laptop comes equipped with a 15.6-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1600 x 900, cialis an Intel PM55 Express chipset, a 320GB of hard disk drive, an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 GPU with 512MB of VRAM, and a 2GB DDR3 1066MHz of RAM.
An ideal and best i7 laptop should come with either SSD or hybrid storage. This is important as there is no point in buying a nice i7 laptop only to throttle its performance by a slow, mechanical hard disk drive. That is why we suggest going for super-fast SSD that is miles-faster than HDD. If you need a lot of storage, then consider getting an i7 laptop with hybrid drive. This type of storage combines all the benefits of SSD and hard disk. This is achieved by using the SSD as cache so the operating system and applications are cached in faster storage medium. Rest of the data such as big files are stored on the hard disk part of hybrid storage.

Sony XBR-X930E 4K LED TV
New features in this years Sony flagship LED-LCD TV model has a slim backlight drive, which is a full array backlight feature that's new and improved. As we have noted in the past, the best LED-LCD TVs have excellent full array backlighting as a separating feature.

Remote Controls

The default remote included with Android TVs is just a basic one.
Some TVs, like the X850C, come with a Touchpad remote control, and it’s also possible to purchase one separately. We don’t recommend it.
Unlike the fancier remotes you get with the higher-end Samsung and LG TVs, the Sony Touchpad doesn’t allow for motion controls. Instead, you can swipe on the touchpad to navigate the menus. It’s tricky to use at first, and while it does get a bit simpler, it’s still not worth using over the traditional remote, and definitely not worth purchasing.
A better option is to download Sony’s TV Sideview App for iOS or Android. It allows you to connect your phone to your TV and use it as a remote. You can use the onscreen arrows to navigate, but you can also track your finger across the screen to control a cursor. It also enables voice search, and can even turn it on when the TV is in standby mode. It’s the best solution for controlling your TV, though it’s still not as good as Samsung and LG’s smart remotes. It’s a free download for iOS and Android.

A Bar code scanner or bar code reader is an electronic gadget that can read and review printed standardized identifications to a Personal Computer. It comprises of a light source, a focal point and a light sensor making an interpretation of optical driving forces into electrical ones. Survey on bar code scanner market suggests that, some scanners use high determination industrial cameras to catch multiple bar codes at the same time. All the bar code showing up in the image is decoded instantly or by the use of modules
barcode scanner, also called a point-of-sale (POS) scanner or a price scanner, is a device used to capture and read information contained in a barcode. The scanner consists of a light source, a lens and a light sensor that translates optical impulses into electrical ones. They also contain decoder circuitry analyzing the barcode’s image data provided by the sensor and sending that content to a computer.
A barcode scanner works by directing a beam of light across the barcode and measuring the amount of light that is reflected back. The dark bars on the barcode will reflect less light than the white spaces between them. The scanner then converts the light energy into electrical energy, which is then converted into data by the decoder and forwarded to a computer.
The most common kinds of scanner used to read one dimensional barcodes are, pen wands, slot scanners, Charge Couple Device (CCD) scanners, image scanners and laser scanners.
  • A pen wand scanner contains no moving parts and is known for its durability and cost. The pen needs to stay in direct contact with the barcode, be held at a specific angle and be moved across the barcode at a certain speed.
  • A slot scanner remains stationary and the item with the barcode is pulled through the slot by hand. Slot scanners are usually used to scan barcodes on identification cards.
  • A CCD scanner has a better read-range and doesn’t involve contact with the barcode. This makes it ideal for use in retail sales. Typically, a CCD scanner is used as a “gun” type interface and has to be held no more than one inch from the barcode. Several different readings are made to reduce the possibility of errors, every time a barcode is scanned. A disadvantage to the CCD scanner is that it can’t read a barcode that is wider than its input screen.
  • An image scanner, also known as a camera reader, uses a small video camera to capture an image of the barcode and then it uses sophisticated digital image processing techniques to decode the barcode. An image scanner can read a barcode from about 3 to 9 inches away and usually costs less than a laser scanner.
  • A laser scanner can either be handheld or stationary and doesn’t need to be close to the barcode in order to read it effectively. The scanner uses a system of mirrors and lenses that allow it to read barcodes regardless of their position and it can easily read up to 24 inches away from the barcode. A laser scanner may perform up to 500 scans per second, to reduce the possibility of errors. Specialized long-range scanners are capable of reading a barcode up to 30 feet away.
2D barcode
A 2D (two-dimensional) barcode is a graphical image that stores information both horizontally, as is the case of one-dimensional barcodes, and vertically. As a result of their construction, 2D barcodes can store up to 7,089 characters, significantly greater storage than is possible with the 20-character capacity of a one-dimensional barcode
